Richton Park streamlines for solar

September 25, 2017 – 11:18 am | 4 views

Over the next six months, the Village of Richton Park will participate in SolSmart, a rigorous national designation program recognizing communities for making it faster, easier, and cheaper to go solar.
The SolSmart program will help Richton Park streamline government processes and implement measures to encourage solar development, in order to receive a SolSmart designation of Gold, Silver, or Bronze. The Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, a membership organization of the Chicago region’s 275 cities and villages and a leader in the field of municipal sustainability, will serve as program advisor to each government. Those that successfully meet the criteria will be awarded their designations at a ceremony in early 2018. Click here to read more on the Village of Richton Park’s web site.

SolSmart is a new national designation program, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy SunShot Initiative through the Solar Powering America by Recognizing Communities (SPARC) initiative, designed to recognize communities that have taken key steps to address local barriers to solar energy and foster the growth of mature local solar markets.
